La Redoute for European Heritage Open Days

For the „Open Monument Day“ in September, the Redoute in Bonn-Bad Godesberg opened its doors wide and many visitors came to look at the fine splendour of Elector Max Franz. In the magnificent large Beethoven Hall – where the young and brilliant Beethoven played for Haydn at the invitation of the Elector – the Bonn composer's great career began. The history of the magnificent banqueting hall, engagingly presented by the lessee Christoph von Borries, gave visitors goosebumps and enthusiastically transported them to another era. It was hard to imagine that just a few hours before the guided tour, a glamorous large wedding had been celebrated; the bridal car was still parked outside the door…. Everything was shining and gleaming, thanks to our housekeeper Michaela, who was already showing the first „explorers“ through the salons at 11 am while vacuuming and polishing on the side.

Diverse and relaxed, despite the splendour of the architectural style, the visitors were enchanted and felt „splendid yet cosy“. A special aura that makes the electoral ballroom and event location La Redoute unique.

The whole house exudes a sense of calm and aristocratic nobility permeates the air. The reception rooms on the upper floor were admired with great enthusiasm. Here you can view all our halls and salons. Many did not know the rooms and the blue salon or that pink room were described with „quiet elegance“. Ideal for meetings, weddings (we are also here for your civil marriage ceremony) and business dinners, celebrations and receptions of two to 70 people.

The Green Salon was the Elector's bedroom when he celebrated in Bad Godesberg and invited guests to lavish parties and contemplative concerts in the Redoute. Here our visitors were particularly fascinated.

The fireplace, the parquet flooring, the aura of the room radiate harmony and relaxation in casual splendour. That is why Christian Dior also wanted to sleep right here during his visit to Bonn in 1952. The bed was unceremoniously transported from the hotel into the Green Salon, and during his stay on the Rhine, Dior spent the night like royalty on the first floor. Breathtaking splendour could be experienced on the roof terrace – La Redoute, so central and yet so peaceful. Surrounded by the Redoutenpark with its large trees, planted in the electoral era, the sun caressed our visitors during a short break on the terrace and time seemed to stand still. Here you can take a look at our patios.

„Here the soul opens up,“ said Marianne W., already planning her birthday reception in her head, „right here next spring.“.

For 225 years, the Redoute has provided a venue for people, festivals, celebrations, conferences and music, and was delighted to welcome more than 400 visitors on this year’s Open Monuments Day.
